Decryption Error

Experiencing a Decryption Error

The launcher may present an error message reading:
"Your computer's security settings do not allow Istaria to encrypt/decrypt data correctly."

If you see this message, it is because your computer is configured to only allow FIPS compliant encryption. Please see the Microsoft knowledge base for more information about this error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811833

Resolving a Registry-based Decryption Error

By default, Windows does not require FIPS compliant algorithms to be used for encrypting data. Your PC's registry has likely been updated to require a FIPS compliant algorithm for all encrypted data. At this time, the Istaria launcher uses a non-FIPS compliant algorithm. To configure your PC to the default, please adjust the following Windows registry settings:

Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows 7
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\FIPSAlgorithmPolicy\Enabled = 0

Windows Server 2003, Windows XP

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\FIPSAlgorithmPolicy = 0
