How to Reset Game Options

Resetting Game Options

Resetting game options can be necessary if undesired modifications have been made, or to reset to defaults for troubleshooting performance issues.

If you're trying to troubleshoot performance issues, first try scaling back your graphics preferences before performing a full reset.

Before making any changes, backup your character and game preferences by browsing to your Istaria installation folder and creating a backup of your entire prefs folder. You can always copy the file back to restore your settings. The prefs folder is usually located at:
c:\program files\istaria\prefs

Scaling Back Graphics Preferences
  1. Start Istaria
  2. Click the game gem at the bottom left corner, and click options.
  3. Select the Video tab and then move the Graphic, Texture and Maximum View Distance all the way to the left.
  4. Make sure Terrain Clutter Enabled is not checked.
  5. Make sure Cloth Simulation Enabled is not checked
Resetting from In-Game
  1. Click the game jewel in the bottom left corner
  2. Click Options
  3. Click Restore Defaults
This will ensure that your game options are set to conservative values; you can bump your settings up from that point.

Resetting from the Launcher
  1. Log into the character selection screen
  2. Click the Troubleshoot button
  3. Check the Reset Global Prefs box and click Back
  4. Select a character and click Play
This will delete all game and character prefs.

Manual Reset Steps
  1. Close Istaria
  2. Browse to your Istaria installation folder
  3. Open the prefs folder
  4. Delete client_prefs_comomon.def, client_prefs_graphic.def and client_prefs_launch.def

When Istaria starts, it will recreate those files from defaults.
